Introduction and background

Each morning and evening, on my journey to work, I see a man. I have no idea of his name, where he lives or where he works. He's just there. But the trouble is that his actions have become interesting, just because they are so trivial and mundane, so I'm recording them here.
Why "The Man in the Hat"? Well, in winter her wears a black homburg hat. In the warmer months, he doesn't - but that doesn't stop him being "the man in the hat", does it?
